Our diverse and adventure-packed 4-day wildlife package covers a lot in Uganda’s largest and oldest Protected Area- Murchison falls National Park. This short wildlife tour starts in Kampala and allows enough time to explore this popular safari destination through game drives, boat rides, and the ride to the top of the falls. The 3840-square-kilometer National Park is home to 76 mammal species that include lions, spotted hyenas, warthogs, Jackson’s hartebeests, Rothschild giraffes, African bush Elephants, Oribis, Defassa Waterbucks, Hippos, bushbucks, Roan antelopes, Duikers, Uganda Kobs, Topis, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, and vervet monkeys among others. It is also a birding Paradise of over 500 species living in the woodland, wetlands, forests, and savannah grasslands.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to the beautiful Murchison falls National Park

After a hearty breakfast at the Hotel in Kampala, you will embark on the transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. This beautiful 3840-square-kilometer Protected Area is home to the World’s most powerful waterfalls, after which it was named.

You will have a stop at Nakasongola, and make a detour towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the 2-hour Rhino tracking where you will also be introduced to herds of Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, Hippos, and bushbucks among others. Lunch will be at Kabalega Dinners before continuing to the park where you arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Murchison falls Tour- Game viewing & boat ride to the bottom of the falls.

Enjoy breakfast, hop into the safari jeep, and enter the heart of Murchison falls National Park via a game drive where sights of lions, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, spotted hyenas, warthogs, Rothschild giraffes, Uganda Kobs, Jackson’s hartebeests, common elands, Topis, leopards, Olive baboons, Oribis, and vervet monkeys are unmissable. You will spend 3-4 hours on this game drive before returning to the Lodge mid-morning for siesta and Lunch.

The afternoon is for the boat ride to the bottom of the falls and this usually begins at 2 pm. Take the next 2-3 hours cruising on the calm waters of the Nile while sighting Hippos and Nile crocodiles alongside a plethora of birds that include great white and pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, Malachite Kingfishers, Pied Kingfishers, African skimmers, Grey-crowned cranes, saddle-billed storks and so much more.

Day 3: More Murchison falls Tour: Chimpanzee tracking and community/village walks.

You will begin your adventure today by having breakfast and driving to the Kaniyo-Pabidi sector, Budongo Forest for your chimpanzee tracking adventure. Get a briefing from the Ranger guides who will take you through the dos and donts of chimp trekking, get allocated into any of the chimp communities. Depending on how far the chimpanzees are, it will take you anywhere between 1 and 4 hours to finally find them and when you do, get your camera ready to capture as many photos as possible while learning about their characteristics in the one hour. After you have learned about these Great Apes, you will drive back to the Lodge for Lunch and in the afternoon get a chance to enjoy a guided community walk.
