Karenge Bush Camp is a calm and secluded Paradise in the heart of Akagera National Park’s wilderness. Staying at the spectacular Karenge Bush Camp allows guests to combine privacy and laid-back comfort with a feel of the raw/untouched wild. The word “Karenge” is literally translated as “small footprint?” in the local Kinyarwanda dialect and this describes the name of the area where this extraordinary Bush Camp is situated.

Karenge Bush Camp is one of the few accommodation facilities in Rwanda established while leaving a small footprint and this is part of this classic Bush Camp’s commitment towards its natural surroundings. Just like its name, the accommodation facility, right from the time it was set up, its existence (seasonality) and operations leave nothing more than a light ecological impact (or footprint).

Talking of Karenge Bush Camp’s operations, you will be amazed by how it stands out and is worth visiting during Rwanda safaris, especially for travelers interested in discovering Rwanda’s only savannah National Park-Akagera National Park.

One of the things that blow visitors’ minds is the fact that Karenge Bush Camp is only open for 11 months and remains closed during the month of April. These is a traditional wet month and this is done to allow the rejuvenation/or regrowth of vegetation.

At the time of establishment in 2016, Karenge Bush Camp was only open from June to August and December to February of 2017.
